A lease or tenancy is an agreement between a landlord and a tenant that gives the tenant reasonable use of the landlord's property after payment of rent.
Usually, no exceeding three years are called "tenancy". More than three years is called a "lease". A lease usually involves an industrial unit. The lease needs to be registered with the land office "Pejabat Tanah" and reported to the land office under the National Land Code 1965. Registration means that the property is officially subject to leasing.
Some landlords will choose not to prepare an agreement when renting out a house, in order to save fees and expenses.
